Boiler Problems We Diagnose and Fix

Boiler systems are reliable when properly installed and maintained, but problems do arise over time. Cleon diagnoses system issues accurately and recommends the right solution, whether that is a targeted repair or a full system replacement.

No heat Could be a failed circulation pump, seized zone valve, thermostat fault or ignition issue on the boiler itself. The cause needs to be properly diagnosed before parts are replaced, and Cleon works through this systematically.

Inconsistent or uneven heating Often caused by air trapped in the system or a failing circulation pump. Some zones may heat well while others stay cold, which usually points to a zone valve or balancing issue.

Low or high system pressure Hydronic systems operate within a specific pressure range. Pressure that is too low can cause the boiler to shut off; too high puts stress on components. Both can usually be corrected during a service call.

Leaking components Moisture around valves, fittings, the expansion tank or the boiler itself indicates a leak. Even small leaks should be addressed promptly to prevent water damage and system air ingestion.

Unusual sounds Kettling, banging or gurgling from the boiler or pipes typically indicates sediment buildup, air in the system or inadequate water flow through the heat exchanger.

High fuel bills A boiler that is working harder than it should often has a correctable cause, such as a dirty heat exchanger, incorrect temperature setpoints or a pump running at the wrong speed.

Boiler System Services

1

System Assessment

We evaluate your existing heating system or review a new installation, looking at heat load requirements, zone configuration, equipment suitability and gas line capacity before recommending a solution.

2

Boiler Installation

We install conventional and high-efficiency condensing boilers, including combi units, properly sized and piped for your home or building with all required controls and safety devices.

3

Hydronic System Piping

We install and connect the circulation piping, manifolds, zone valves, pumps and expansion tanks for radiant floor systems, baseboard convectors or fan coil units.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a combi boiler?
A combination boiler provides both space heating and domestic hot water from a single compact unit, with no separate hot water tank required. They work well in smaller homes, cottages and properties where mechanical room space is limited.
Are boiler systems energy efficient?
Modern high-efficiency condensing boilers can achieve efficiency ratings well above 90 percent. Hydronic radiant systems also tend to feel comfortable at lower thermostat settings compared to forced-air heating, which can reduce overall energy use.
Can a boiler be installed during a renovation?
Yes. Boilers are commonly installed in new builds and renovation projects including basement developments and home additions. Early planning makes it easier to integrate the piping, zone controls and gas lines into the project effectively.
